A Nursery Fit for a King

I wanted Abram's nursery to feel modern, clean, rustic, and adventurous just like little boys are.
When I think of adventurous little boys,
I think of them playing outside, building forts in the woods, etc.
That's where the "Where The Wild Things Are" theme came into play.
I tried hard to not overdue the theme though.
I think it all turned out really great.
I still want to add in some bookshelves on the wall to the left of his crib.

:: 36 weeks :: Hey, hey lil'guy!

Welcome to Week 36!

Hey, hey lil'guy,

You seem to be growing leaps and bounds these last few weeks.
My ribs are for sure feeling it!
Thankfully you don't kick my ribs, but they sure do feel bruised.
Even my back ribs are feeling the pressure and pain.
All worth it though.

I keep telling myself I'm in the home stretch - I can do this! ;)
Crazy how the end has come so quickly.
I now understand why preggies feel "so ready" towards the end. I'm really starting to feel that.
Although it's not long before we meet you it somehow still feels like an eternity.

I feel SO blessed that we have made it this far. So thankful. Thank you Lord.
One negative thing I've noticed about these last few weeks:
I've become more irritable, sensitive, randomly sad, and MUCH more uncomfortable.
All this is normal. I keep praying that I don't feel this way after you get here though.
No matter how I feel or how my hormones are raging, I promise to love you. I promise to try my best, and to surrender it all to the Lord. He's our strength and knows exactly what's needed at all times.

Our adventure together is about to begin.
Life is about to take on a whole new form.
My heart is about to change.
You are about to rock our worlds.
I'm scared. I'm anxious. I'm happy. I'm excited.
A bag of emotions as I anticipate life beyond the norm.
May 22nd. Will you make it till then? Or will you pass that date by?
We shall see. :)

Kevin has been so sweet to massage my back whenever it's needed.
Love when he holds or talks to my belly. :)

This week has been full of adventure. :)
For starters Kevin and I traveled to Michigan (where we're both from).
Friends and family put on a baby shower for me and it was so special. :)
Here's a bunch of photos from our trip.
**PS - sorry some pictures are blurry. I really need to start using my "real" camera instead of my iPhone for everything**

Some of my friends who were able to make it to the shower. Super thankful for each one of them. :) photo C28CDF63-74F4-4B22-94EE-51B3968FA325-46303-0000026A4C30F8E6.jpg
My friend Stacy's little girl Ivy was at the shower too. Isn't she a cutie!
I feel like a baby shower isn't complete without a baby there. ;) photo 6F13E4BC-1916-4282-B378-E56536FC3359-46303-00000268B2722380.jpg
This cake might not be the most awesome looking, but it's the BEST tasting. This was the one thing I pretty much demanded be at the shower. It's from a local bakery (Sweet & Savory) - so delicious. :)

My siblings and I. My brothers came by at the end of the shower. :)

The loot - SO beyond thankful for all the blessings people poured out on us at the shower.
My house is currently a wreck. I've been working on washing baby clothes and sorting things.
That's a job! I need to get baby V's closest cleaned out so I can get things in there.
I've noticed that baby clothes sizes aren't accurate.
One outfit will say 6 months and be bigger than a 12 month onesie. What's up with that!?

Our diapers and bumper were waiting for us when we got home from our trip.
We'll be cloth diapering after he's out of newborn diapers. :)
Praying it goes well!

Kevin is so cute. I love how excited he gets about the baby's nursery and other things related to baby. He was more pumped to get the bumper on the crib than I was. He jetted upstairs and did it. Love his heart. I blurred out the background, because baby V's name is on there :)
*I'll eventually take better pictures of the whole nursery and post them*

We had fun comparing belly's.
I'm so thankful Kevin loves my growing belly.
It really means a lot to me that he does. :)

 Welcome to week 29!
Well, this week I thought I'd go bare belly for my shots. ;)

We've got ourselves a growing boy.
Seems like a lot has taken place this past week too.

For starters:: we received our crib bedding in the mail.
Who knew such things could be so exciting? ;)
Unfortunately, the bumper didn't fit correctly though :( BUT THANKFULLY the Etsy seller was so accommodating. She said she could adjust it, and she would pay for shipping too.
Now that's good customer service.
I'm only showing some pictures of the bedding.
Once we have it all back together I'll post it in it's full glory.

His little TOMS came in the mail. So tiny and so cute! Kevin has also put me on a shoe band. I can't purchase anymore shoes for him he says. ;P That's OK.
I bought these TOMS on sale through Zulily for a great price.
(ps, sorry for the blur behind Kev's head, but babies name is written on the wood).

I've been hunting for a decent lamp for the nursery and finally came across this one at Target.
It's perfect. I like the design and color pop. photo FBEAAF32-A846-4A95-AADE-A443C2378DE7-41235-0000172FE2FC9102.jpg
We worked on putting up a lot of the decor, and his walls are almost complete!
We just need to find some book shelves now.
(I'll be posting much better pictures once it's all done. My iphone shots aren't the greatest)

Parenting:: We had our first parenting class this week called "Baby Care."
Some people think it's silly to take these classes, but we don't!
I don't judge anyone for NOT or FOR taking classes
I know a class can only teach you so much and experience is the ultimate teacher, but hey for my sanity, I need to prepare as much as I can.

If anything the class gave use more of a reality check of what we're about to embark on. And frankly, I think it's better for us to have this reality check now instead of later. ;)
We were able to take away some really helpful information. Glad we went!
If anything it was fun to spend time with my hubby and learn through this journey together.
We have two more classes we're taking in April: Preparing for Childbirth & Infant Safety.

Here we are on our way to the class.
Ignore Kevin's scowl. He was making that face because I kept taking pictures of him. ;P
