Welcome to week 38!

Proof that labor is approaching: cankles.
For sure feeling more swollen everywhere this week.
I sit most of the day at work so I've been having to prop my feet up throughout the day.
I'm grateful that I don't have to stand all day. I would imagine that being worse.

Snacks: pretty much a nightly routine.
I kind of love peanut butter,
but too much right now makes me so uncomfortably full due to the heartburn.
So curious as to how much this little guy is going to weigh when he's born.
My guess is between 6-7 pounds. I think I'll be pretty shocked if he's 8 and above.

This past week we had our birthing class.
Our teacher was awesome. She was cracking us up the whole time.
The class was great and we're so thankful we went.
We left feeling more confident in labor being a positive beautiful event.
We also left feeling much more confident in our birthing choices.
I'm not sharing much of our birthing plan, because we want to make it my own.
If you are one who focuses on the positive and has good things to say about birth, then I want to hear it, any negative needs to stay away right now. :)
We are focusing all our energy on positive thinking, ruling out fears, and practicing relaxation.

Big Exam: This week Kevin has been studying a lot for his PhD qualifying exam.
This is a huge step towards him finishing his degree. He only has one more intensive then onto internship and dissertation.
Proud of him for taking school so serious and exercising his God given talents so well.
He doesn't talk about it, but I'll be the one to brag for him. He's a 4.0 Doctoral student.
Wow! Wish I had his brains when it comes to academics. ;P
Go get-em honey!

Making a preggy girl cry: Since my rings no longer fit Kevin surprised me by putting his on my finger during church this past Sunday. He told me that when I see it to just think he's with me, and when he sees his ring is gone he will be praying for me.
Talk about making a big bellied girl bawl in the middle of church.

    1. Thanks so much girl! Funny because the 21st would be a perfect day for me. :) Would like to get through this weekend since my hubby has a paper he needs to get done, and I am getting maternity pics on Monday (if he's not here yet), so yeah the 21st would be great! ;)

  2. My OB thought Micah would be about 7 lbs because that's how I was measuring; you may well imagine how shocked I was when he was 8 lb 4 oz at birth! Praying that things are uncomplicated and easy during labor, delivery, and recovery. Soon you'll be a family of 3!

PS - Any Tues 21st is a really good day for a baby! ;-b (Yeah, that's when mine was born!)

    1. Thanks Rachel!! Yeah, I was telling Kevin last night that at this rate he might actually be 8 something. I just feel so much stretching lately, so I assume that means he's growing more. ;)

21st sounds good to me too!!

  5. You CAN do it! Trust in yourself, God and your body to do what its made too. Put your husband to work during labor, tell him what you need and it is okay to not know what you need. You and your birth class teacher can give him some ideas to try different things to help you when the time comes. Focus on good happy things. Remember its okay if things don't go as planned, don't get discouraged. Trust in your health care provider that you have chosen for your care to make good calls to have a healthy baby and mom. Thinking and saying prayers for you!

  6. Hey Melanie! I'm a new reader, hopped over from...A Fox & A Wolf I think?

I have 2 girls and I remember those last few weeks with the first one...so surreal and full of anticipation and nerves and WHAT IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN TO MY BODY?! It's a beautiful thing, and I'm excited for you!

So just wanted to stop by and say hi, and that I'll probably be getting in touch about an ad swap soon. I'm starting a new blog in a few weeks and would love to put your button on the side! Your blog design is one of my favorites by far.

Rest in Jesus as you move closer to meeting this little guy!

  8. Good Luck with Baby and labor. I had my first, a boy, in September. My advice is that having a birthing plan is great, but be flexible and don't beat yourself up if it doesn't go as you had hoped. There are many factors that happen while you are there and the most important thing is that you and baby are healthy (I found that helpful to remember when things didn't go the way I had hoped). That being said, I do hope it goes how you are planning and that the birth is as uncomplicated as possible. Just stay positive, you will be great! My husband tells every other husband that they should wear comfortable shoes! :)
